Capitalism of maschines

When I was a student I lived in a student hostel. It was huge building with restricted entrance. There was small room on the first floor where old granny sat. If you wanted to enter to the hostel you had to leave your passport to the granny. When you went away from the hostel you took it back. She was pretty and kind. When I had graduated I came to the hostel and found out that neither room nor granny were not. They were replaced by machine which worked with modern electromagnetic cards. This machine consisted of huge gates and place where student had to put identification card. I was not surprised, because I knew that head of hostel liked to save money. It was pure capitalism.
Later I saw several times situations like this and each situation sat thinking about my self and about future. Where is machine which should replace me? Is it already exists or not? I think that everybody have to think about his machine. It helps to remember that one day your boss can say 'Sorry boy, you are not profitable'.
