Memory

What is human memory? Personally, I don't know. As far back as I can remember my memory works like unadjusted mechanism. Recently I remembered story from my childhood about memory.
One day teacher in children garden told us how we must cross the road. She said that road is very danger place and therefore we must use next rule to cross the road safely:

• stop in front of the road
• look to the left
• go to the middle of the road
• look to the right
• finally cross the road

I had thought "Oh, everything is so simple!". In the evening of that day my father gathered me from the children garden and we were going to the home. When came to the road I stopped and tried to remember where I have to look: to the right or to the left... And I realized that I don't remember!

It was fist time when I faced with my memory behaviour. I asked myself "Why?" and answer was simple "Absence of association". The teacher didn't say why we must look to left firstly. We must do it because Russia has left-sided road movement and hence when we stop in front of the road we must expect car from left.

After this case I began to use association or chain of associations to remember complex things such as theorems or poems.
